Curator Notes

Ar tonelico II moves the series to Metafalica, a new continent and a new pair of Reyvateils, while keeping the songs and the Dive system that defined the first game. It is larger and more confident, and it shows Gust leaning further into the strangeness that made the series distinct. The Japanese Banpresto release arrived in October 2007. NIS America’s North American edition followed on January 20, 2009, again packaged as a Premium Box — this time with a 22-page art collection and the soundtrack — and NIS America said at launch that the box would not be reprinted. The filing continues the Ar tonelico lineage begun by Melody of Elemia. Both copies came to the shelf together from the same collector, which is part of their record here.

Collection Documentation

Acquired from a collector friend together with the first Ar tonelico, while assembling the Gust PlayStation 2 shelf. The copy arrived near mint and complete in its Premium Box. The retained object is the North American NIS America Premium Box (SLUS-21788P): the outer box, the standard keep case with pressed disc, manual, and cover insert, the official art collection, and the original soundtrack CD. The reference photograph records the seven Gust PlayStation 2 holdings together, as filed in the Collection Hall under synthesis.

Playback Compatibility: Pressed for North American PlayStation 2 consoles. The retained game disc remains the primary access copy; the soundtrack CD is retained as part of the edition.
Preservation Concerns: Optical-disc aging and surface damage remain the principal risks, alongside wear to the premium box itself. The game case is stored upright under stable, dry conditions; the box, printed extras, and any soundtrack disc remain housed together with the copy.
Edition History: First issued in Japan by Banpresto on October 25, 2007 as アルトネリコ2 世界に響く少女たちの創造詩. The North American NIS America localization followed on January 20, 2009 (SLUS-21788) in a single, unreprinted Premium Box run. The European Koei release of June 2009 is a separate edition and is not this filing.
Access Status: The original physical edition is out of print and circulates through the secondary market; complete Premium Boxes with the soundtrack are the scarcer form. No current digital edition replaces this North American reference copy.
