Curator Notes

Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon began as a stretch goal of the 2015 Kickstarter for Koji Igarashi’s Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Inti Creates built it as an 8-bit-style action platformer in which four playable characters can be swapped at will. It released digitally on May 24, 2018, including on Nintendo Switch. Limited Run Games later produced its Switch physical edition as Switch Limited Run #31. This filing opens the Bloodstained lineage on the shelf.

Playback Compatibility: Nintendo Switch software is region-free. The retained game card is the primary access copy and runs on any Nintendo Switch console.
Preservation Concerns: Game cards are flash media; long-term charge retention, contact wear, and loss of the small card from its case are the principal risks. Any content delivered as an eShop download or update depends on Nintendo’s servers and is not preserved by the card alone.
Edition History: Released digitally on May 24, 2018. Limited Run Games issued the Switch physical edition as Switch Limited Run #31, with a Classic Edition alongside. Inti Creates’ Japan-only Curse of the Moon Chronicles (2023) later combined both games on one card and is not this filing.
Access Status: Limited Run Games’s physical edition was a limited production and now circulates through the secondary market. The digital Switch edition was issued separately on the Nintendo eShop.
