Curator Notes

Corpse Party began as Makoto Kedōin’s 1996 PC-98 horror game for Team GrisGris, in which students trapped in the ghostly Heavenly Host Elementary School try to survive and escape. Its later remake, Blood Covered: Repeated Fear, became the base of the modern series. The Tetralogy Pack gathers four games on one card: Corpse Party: Blood Covered Repeated Fear, Corpse Party: Book of Shadows, Corpse Party: Sweet Sachiko’s Hysteric Birthday Bash, and Corpse Party: Blood Drive. MAGES. released it in Japan on August 7, 2025, with English language support. A planned Western release by XSEED Games was cancelled in November 2025, leaving the Japanese edition as the physical source. This filing opens the Corpse Party lineage on the shelf.

Collection Documentation

Preservation Notes

Original Hardware
Nintendo Switch
Playback Compatibility
Nintendo Switch software is region-free. The retained game card is the primary access copy and runs on any Nintendo Switch console.
Preservation Concerns
Game cards are flash media; long-term charge retention, contact wear, and loss of the small card from its case are the principal risks. Any content delivered as an eShop download or update depends on Nintendo’s servers and is not preserved by the card alone.
Edition History
Original Corpse Party released on PC-98 in 1996. The Tetralogy Pack (HAC-P-BPL8A) released in Japan on August 7, 2025. XSEED Games’ announced Western edition was cancelled on November 14, 2025.
