Curator Notes

Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled remakes Naughty Dog’s 1999 PlayStation kart racer, adding the tracks and characters of Crash Nitro Kart. Beenox developed it, and Activision released it on June 21, 2019, on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. After launch, Beenox added tracks, characters, and karts through a series of free online Grand Prix seasons. The filing follows the N. Sane Trilogy in the Crash Bandicoot lineage.

Collection Documentation

The retained object is Activision’s retail edition of Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled on a Nintendo Switch game card. Dedicated artifact views of the individual copy have not yet been filed; the gallery below is held open for that documentation.

Preservation Concerns: Game cards are flash media; long-term charge retention, contact wear, and loss of the small card from its case are the principal risks. Tracks, characters, and karts added through the post-launch Grand Prix seasons arrive as updates and depend on Nintendo’s servers; they are not preserved by the card alone.
Edition History: Crash Team Racing released on PlayStation in 1999. Nitro-Fueled released June 21, 2019; its Grand Prix seasons ran through 2020.
