Curator Notes

Dead or School is a 2.5D side-scrolling action RPG set in a Tokyo overrun by zombies. Hisako, raised in the underground shelters, puts on her grandmother’s old school uniform and rides the subway to the surface — Shinjuku, Asakusa, Akihabara, Roppongi — to go to school. Studio Nanafushi released it on PC in July 2018 and on Nintendo Switch in Japan on August 29, 2019; the Japanese card includes English text.

Collection Documentation

The retained object is the Japanese retail edition of Dead or School on a Nintendo Switch game card, with English text. Dedicated artifact views of the individual copy have not yet been filed; the gallery below is held open for that documentation.

Playback Compatibility: Nintendo Switch software is region-free. The retained game card is the primary access copy and runs on any Nintendo Switch console.
Preservation Concerns: Game cards are flash media; long-term charge retention, contact wear, and loss of the small card from its case are the principal risks. Any content delivered as an eShop download or update depends on Nintendo’s servers and is not preserved by the card alone.
Edition History: PC release July 11, 2018. Nintendo Switch release in Japan on August 29, 2019 (HAC-P-ASWCA); the Western release followed on March 13, 2020.
Access Status: Physically distributed in Japan, with a separate European physical edition and a digital edition on the Nintendo eShop.
