Curator Notes

DOOM (2016) rebooted id Software’s series around relentless forward combat and Glory Kills, as the Doom Slayer cuts through a UAC facility on Mars and into Hell. It released on May 13, 2016. Panic Button’s Nintendo Switch port released on November 10, 2017, one of the first major current-generation ports to the system, without the SnapMap editor. The filing joins the DOOM lineage already on the shelf, beside DOOM: The Dark Ages.

Collection Documentation

The retained object is Bethesda Softworks’ retail edition of DOOM for Nintendo Switch. Dedicated artifact views of the individual copy have not yet been filed; the gallery below is held open for that documentation.

Preservation Notes

Access Hardware
Nintendo Switch; compatible Nintendo Switch family hardware
Original Hardware
Nintendo Switch
Playback Compatibility
Nintendo Switch software is region-free. The retained game card is the primary access copy and runs on any Nintendo Switch console.
Preservation Concerns
Game cards are flash media; long-term charge retention, contact wear, and loss of the small card from its case are the principal risks. The card holds only the single-player campaign; multiplayer and non-English audio are a required download of roughly 9 GB from the Nintendo eShop, and are not preserved by the card alone.
Edition History
Released May 13, 2016 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The Nintendo Switch port (HAC-P-AF3BA) released November 10, 2017, without SnapMap.
Access Status
Distributed at retail by Bethesda Softworks, with a digital edition on the Nintendo eShop.
