Curator Notes

Dragon Quest, Dragon Quest II, and Dragon Quest III form the Erdrick trilogy that founded the series on the Famicom between 1986 and 1988. These Nintendo Switch versions are based on the 2013–2014 smartphone remakes, not the later HD-2D remakes. The three games released individually on the eShop on September 27, 2019. Only Asia received them physically, as this single-card collection, released on October 24, 2019, with English text. This filing opens the Dragon Quest lineage on the shelf.

Collection Documentation

The retained object is Square Enix’s Asian Dragon Quest 1+2+3 Collection, with all three games on one Nintendo Switch game card and English text. Dedicated artifact views of the individual copy have not yet been filed; the gallery below is held open for that documentation.

Preservation Notes

Access Hardware
Nintendo Switch; compatible Nintendo Switch family hardware
Original Hardware
Nintendo Switch
Playback Compatibility
Nintendo Switch software is region-free. The retained game card is the primary access copy and runs on any Nintendo Switch console.
Preservation Concerns
Game cards are flash media; long-term charge retention, contact wear, and loss of the small card from its case are the principal risks. Any content delivered as an eShop download or update depends on Nintendo’s servers and is not preserved by the card alone.
Edition History
Dragon Quest released on Famicom on May 27, 1986, followed by II in 1987 and III in 1988. The Switch versions released digitally on September 27, 2019; the Asian physical collection (HAC-P-AVZDA) followed on October 24, 2019.
Access Status
Physically distributed in Asia only; elsewhere the three games were issued digitally on the Nintendo eShop.
