Curator Notes

Fight Crab is a physics-driven fighting game in which crabs armed with swords, guns, and anything else at hand try to flip one another onto their backs — the loser cooked. It was developed by Calappa Games, the one-person studio formerly known as Nussoft. It released on PC in July 2020, and Mastiff issued the Nintendo Switch version physically in Japan on August 20, 2020, with English text on the card.

Collection Documentation

The retained object is Mastiff’s Japanese retail edition of Fight Crab on a Nintendo Switch game card, with English text. Dedicated artifact views of the individual copy have not yet been filed; the gallery below is held open for that documentation.

Preservation Notes

Access Hardware
Nintendo Switch; compatible Nintendo Switch family hardware
Original Hardware
Nintendo Switch
Playback Compatibility
Nintendo Switch software is region-free. The retained game card is the primary access copy and runs on any Nintendo Switch console.
Preservation Concerns
Game cards are flash media; long-term charge retention, contact wear, and loss of the small card from its case are the principal risks. Any content delivered as an eShop download or update depends on Nintendo’s servers and is not preserved by the card alone.
Edition History
PC early access August 2019; full release July 2020. Nintendo Switch release in Japan on August 20, 2020 (HAC-P-AWPNC); the Western eShop release followed on September 15, 2020, and a Western physical edition in 2022.
Access Status
Physically distributed in Japan, with a later Western physical edition and a digital edition on the Nintendo eShop.
