Curator Notes

Assassin’s Creed III moved the series to the American Revolution and introduced wilderness stealth and free-running through trees. Ubisoft Montreal released it on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on October 30, 2012. The Remastered edition arrived on Nintendo Switch on May 21, 2019, as the first Assassin’s Creed game on the console. Ubisoft credits the Switch version to Ubisoft Chengdu and Ubisoft Barcelona. It bundles Assassin’s Creed Liberation Remastered and the original single-player downloadable content, and drops the multiplayer modes. The filing joins the Assassin’s Creed lineage already on the shelf.

Collection Documentation

The retained object is Ubisoft’s retail edition of Assassin’s Creed III Remastered for Nintendo Switch, with Liberation Remastered included as a bonus game. Dedicated artifact views of the individual copy have not yet been filed; the gallery below is held open for that documentation.

Preservation Notes

Access Hardware
Nintendo Switch; compatible Nintendo Switch family hardware
Original Hardware
Nintendo Switch
Playback Compatibility
Nintendo Switch software is region-free. The retained game card is the primary access copy and runs on any Nintendo Switch console.
Preservation Concerns
Game cards are flash media; long-term charge retention, contact wear, and loss of the small card from its case are the principal risks. The Assassin’s Creed III campaign and Liberation Remastered are on the card, but the single-player downloadable missions arrive as a separate Additional Playable Missions Pack download from the Nintendo eShop and are not preserved by the card alone.
Edition History
Original release October 30, 2012 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Assassin’s Creed III Remastered followed on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on March 29, 2019, and on Nintendo Switch on May 21, 2019, adding touch-screen and motion-aiming controls.
Access Status
Distributed at retail by Ubisoft, with a digital edition on the Nintendo eShop.
