Curator Notes

The Rebel Collection pairs two Assassin’s Creed games set in the eighteenth-century Atlantic. Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag (Ubisoft Montreal, 2013) follows the pirate Edward Kenway; Assassin’s Creed Rogue (Ubisoft Sofia, 2014) was the first in the series told from a Templar’s side and the last made for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 generation. Ubisoft revealed the collection in the September 4, 2019 Nintendo Direct and released it exclusively on Nintendo Switch on December 6, 2019. It includes Black Flag’s single-player downloadable content — among it Freedom Cry and Aveline — Rogue with its downloadable content, and exclusive outfits. The filing joins the Assassin’s Creed lineage already on the shelf, beside the Steam edition of Black Flag.

Collection Documentation

The retained object is Ubisoft’s retail edition of Assassin’s Creed: The Rebel Collection for Nintendo Switch. Dedicated artifact views of the individual copy have not yet been filed; the gallery below is held open for that documentation.

Preservation Notes

Access Hardware
Nintendo Switch; compatible Nintendo Switch family hardware
Original Hardware
Nintendo Switch
Playback Compatibility
Nintendo Switch software is region-free. The retained game card is the primary access copy and runs on any Nintendo Switch console.
Preservation Concerns
Game cards are flash media; long-term charge retention, contact wear, and loss of the small card from its case are the principal risks. Black Flag and its downloadable content are on the card, but Ubisoft distributes Assassin’s Creed Rogue as a free download from the Nintendo eShop — that half of the collection depends on Nintendo’s servers and is not preserved by the card alone.
Edition History
Black Flag first released in October 2013; Rogue on November 11, 2014. The Rebel Collection is a Nintendo Switch exclusive released December 6, 2019, porting the original Rogue rather than the 2018 Rogue Remastered.
Access Status
Distributed at retail by Ubisoft, with a digital edition on the Nintendo eShop.
