Curator Notes

Final Fantasy VII follows Cloud Strife and AVALANCHE against the Shinra corporation; Final Fantasy VIII follows Squall and the mercenaries of SeeD against the sorceress Edea. Both released on the original PlayStation, in 1997 and 1999, and both versions here add triple speed, battle assists, and an option to switch off random encounters. The Twin-Pack holds both on a single card with no download required. First issued physically in Asia in 2019, it came to North America on December 9, 2025. The filing joins the Final Fantasy lineage on the shelf.

Collection Documentation

The retained object is Square Enix’s North American retail edition of the Final Fantasy VII & Final Fantasy VIII Remastered Twin-Pack, with both games on one Nintendo Switch game card. Dedicated artifact views of the individual copy have not yet been filed; the gallery below is held open for that documentation.

Preservation Notes

Access Hardware
Nintendo Switch; compatible Nintendo Switch family hardware
Original Hardware
Nintendo Switch
Playback Compatibility
Nintendo Switch software is region-free. The retained game card is the primary access copy and runs on any Nintendo Switch console.
Preservation Concerns
Game cards are flash media; long-term charge retention, contact wear, and loss of the small card from its case are the principal risks. Both games are held complete on the card; only optional updates depend on Nintendo’s servers.
Edition History
Final Fantasy VII released on PlayStation in Japan on January 31, 1997; Final Fantasy VIII on February 11, 1999. The Twin-Pack was issued physically in Asia on November 29, 2019, and in North America on December 9, 2025.
Access Status
Distributed at retail by Square Enix, with a digital edition on the Nintendo eShop.
